Some believe in fate, others in timing—and we like to think of it as a little bit of both. Long before we officially met, we were unknowingly walking parallel paths. Patrick was captain of the lacrosse team at Roger Williams University, and Phoebe was a freshman on the equestrian team. While our worlds were just a stone’s throw apart, our lives didn’t intersect—at least not yet.

It wasn’t until the summer of 2018, after Phoebe had graduated and moved to Connecticut, that we finally crossed paths—brought together by mutual Roger Williams friends in Stamford. The connection was instant, but as the invisible string theory goes, it wasn’t quite time for the knot to tie just yet.

Years later, during a summer evening gathered around an outdoor TV watching a Rangers game, our friend Luke Aubrey leaned over and asked Phoebe what she thought about Pat. Phoebe—ever independent—brushed it off, insisting she didn’t need any meddling. But fate had other plans.

In October 2021, Phoebe called Patrick needing advice on a tool, and true to his nickname “Bob the Builder,” he offered to stop by after work. He showed up at her little walk-up on Summer Street... and, well, never really left.

Since then, we've shared three apartments, raised two mischievous French bulldogs (Murphy and Milo), and added a Maine Coon cat named Theodore—Patrick’s favorite pet, if you ask him. Our life together has been filled with laughter, hikes, and a circle of incredible friends and family.

Patrick proposed during a hike in Princeton, NJ, in the middle of a rainstorm. The trail was one of Phoebe’s late father's favorites—and one of the first Patrick ever walked when he began visiting her hometown. It was the perfect full-circle moment for a love that feels like it was always meant to be.
